Back to the Old Home by Mary Cecil Hay

Mary Cecil Hay was the author of 20 Crime Fiction novels in the last quarter of the 1800's.  She lived a relatively short life from 1840 to 1886.  Contrary to some sources the W.B. Conkey edition (this auction is for the Conkey) is not the first edition.  The first edition was released in 1878 by Harper and Brothers.

This edition also includes a 14 page short story at the end of the book entitled "The Return" by Guy DeMaupassant.

The book is in good condition with wear to the boards and edge wear, bumped corners, soiled spine with the gilt almost worn off, PO name on the FFEP, front hinge crack at the title page gutter, rear hinge crack at the gutter between the two RFEPs.  The binding is solid and sqaure and tightly holding the tanned pages.  I consider this book to be UNCOMMON.
