Title:  The Life of David Livingstone LLD, The Great Missionary Explorer

Boards - Dark teal with beveled edges.  Front board has a black stamp foliage design with gilt stamp of a lion standing over a fallen explorer, also in gilt is the title “The Life & Explorations of Dr. Livingstone.  The rear board has a blind stamp design.  Front board has minimal rubbing and bright gilt, the edges show moderate wear, and the corners are not so much bumped as the are starting to fray.  The rear board is in the same physical condition with the addition of a 1” by 2” moisture fade (not so much a stain).

Spine - Black stamp foliage design with gilt bands at head and foot.  Gilt stamp of title, wreath design, and bust of Livingstone.  Shelf wear to head and foot.  Gilt is bright.

Binding - Solid and tight with no wobble (you can force a wobble if you wanted to).  Hinges are not cracked, however, there is the start of a crack between the frontispiece and the title page.

Pages - Nice gilt on all edges.  The FFEP has PO name (William Miskimmon) and a date of March 24th, 1886.  Mr. Miskimmon was a resident of Killysavin Poyntzpass County Down Farmer (Northern Ireland), was married to Mary Ann, and died on 1-31-1917.  The title page has the following stamp - “Sabbath School Society For Ireland In Connection With the Presbyterian Church” - in an oval design.  There is a ½” stain on the prefatory note page.  The rest of the pages are free of writing and have a slight tan to them.  320 pages

Physical and Other Attributes:    The frontispiece and illustrations are printed in black and tan color.  There are 16 pages at the end of the book for Walter Scott releases - Two pages of new books, three pages of novels, five pages of gift books, two pages of Bijou Books, three pages of press release concerning “Our American Cousins”, and a last page for a new novel at press and The Gypsy Series.
